The Wadden Sea Council was instituted in 2003 by virtue of the Wadden Sea Council Act. The Council began its second term of office in January 2007. The Council advises the national and regional public authorities on the Wadden Sea region. Its most important tasks are to conserve and strengthen the Wadden Sea region as a nature conservation area.
