Welcome

Welcome to the website of the Wadden Sea Council

The Wadden Sea region is one of the Netherlands' most notable nature conservation areas. The area enjoys special status both nationally and internationally. Nationally, because it is our biggest single nature conservation area. And internationally it is among the most important wetlands, featuring a rich diversity of flora and fauna. But the area is made vulnerable by the continuous interplay between nature and man.

The Wadden Sea Council is an independent advisory council. The Council advises the government on the Wadden Sea region from an unambiguous perspective: the unique character of the Wadden Sea region must be conserved and spared.

This website informs you about the Council's approach and the advices it makes.
